Desdemona comes from a musical background, playing clarinet for a decade, so at least the "dancing" she did was in rhythm. She fell in love with bellydance after watching a performance by Ariellah and became dedicated to the art form.

Desdemona strives for precise technique, a captivating stage presence, and intention in her movements. In addition to regular practice to achieve her goals, she studies with some of the best and most innovative contemporary bellydancers through classes, workshops, and private instruction.

After performing for a year, Desdemona began developing her own style of bellydance, which utilizes tribal posturing and technique with some cabaret based movements and flair added to it. She is proficient in dancing with a sword and started performing with sai weaponry as well. She also dances with single and double veil.

Desdemona enjoys dancing to a wide variety of music, from traditional to modern gypsy to rock. She also loves performing to live music and has performed with DJ Amar of Electric Vardo, traditional ensembles, and Lucius Guardian (a modern fusion band).
